It’s no secret that the tech industry has a diversity problem. Many see this issue going beyond hiring practices; according to a recent survey, the most significant cause of concern is the gap in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) opportunities in underserved communities. To help promote a more diverse and inclusive future in tech, and close the ever-widening gap in equity, Galvanize is partnering with Iterable, a cross-channel platform that powers unified customer experiences, to provide scholarships and paid internship opportunities to underrepresented individuals.
By design, Iterable + Galvanize is built to ensure that young people from underrepresented communities and backgrounds are ready to enter the tech workforce, equipped with competitive technology skills and well-versed in the impact and utility of emerging technology.Â
Iterable + Galvanize will provide three applicants a full scholarship to enroll in the Hack Reactor Software Engineering Immersive bootcamp through Galvanize. Described by Forbes as “a total game-changer for those who matriculate,” The Hack Reactor bootcamp is scheduled to start March 8th, 2021, and will take place over the course of 12 weeks. During the bootcamp, students are trained through over 800 hours of Computer Science and JavaScript curriculum. They graduate with the technical know-how to design, develop, and deploy functional applications. Importantly, they enter the workforce with confidence, conviction, and a strong sense of accomplishment.Â
By participating in the Software Engineering Immersive bootcamp, scholarship recipients will have access to Galvanize’s career services staff, as well as an expansive alumni network. To enable the level of commitment and immersive participation the program requires, scholarship recipients will additionally receive a $1,500 monthly housing stipend and will be enrolled in Hack Reactor’s Telegraph Track, which is designed to promote equity for underrepresented students in the program.
After successful completion of the Hack Reactor program, Iterable + Galvanize program participants will begin a seamless transition to Iterable for a 3-month paid summer internship at Iterable. These interns will be paired with a designated “mentor” at Iterable. The Iterable Internship and Mentorship program will mirror that of the Galvanize mentorship program. Of course, Iterable and Galvanize prioritize the health and safety of their communities, and will work to ensure the experiences of program students and Iterable interns reflect this commitment.
How to Apply:
The application for the Iterable + Galvanize program opens on December 28, 2020. Applications will close at midnight (PT) on February 1, 2021. Full requirements for the application program can be found at the application website, but note that all applicants must complete the entrance assessment for the Hack Reactor March Software Engineering Immersive by January 25, 2020 and note that the program is open to all individuals regardless of location.
