When it comes to diversifying the tech industry, the future starts now. Galvanize is committed to making tech education and access to careers in tech, available to all, especially to women and others who have been traditionally underrepresented in tech. Which is why, on Saturday, December 10, Galvanize hosted a free event—“STEM Saturday”—for sixth through twelfth grade girls at its Platte campus. Seventy-five students from local Colorado schools joined Galvanize instructors in the campus classrooms to dig into coding topics like HTML basics, and using conditional statements and algorithms in coding languages. As one attendee put it, “This was sooo worth waking up early on the weekend.” Galvanize teamed up with Girls Inc of Metro Denver and CareerWise Colorado on the event, and Fox News was on the scene and filed this report.
