Galvanize Opens in Boulder with World-Class Instructor Team

Last week, 26 students began the 24 week-long journey to become full stack web developers with Galvanize Boulder. This is the first program for Boulder, located at the new Galvanize campus at 1035 Pearl Street, and the third for Galvanize. Over 150 applicants from across the US applied for the intense web developer training program, which is led by the incredible instructor team of Mike Gehard, Jeff Dean and Kinsey Ann Durham.

Mike is a Senior Engineer at Pivotal Labs, and has been building out Galvanize tools and improving Galvanize curriculum since last fall. Former Pivotal Labs NYC Director Jeff Dean joined the Galvanize team as Director of Education in January.  Together, Mike and Jeff bring over 25+ years of development experience to Galvanize, and this experience is already showing.  Immersing students in the development process is already a major focus of the program; students are tracking course assignments and homework using Pivotal Tracker, and by day three, students were building and releasing apps:

We’re thrilled to have Kinsey Ann Durham on board as TA for the Boulder program. Kinsey is the organizer for Women Who Code Colorado, an Outreach Coordinator for Railsbridge, and is also an open source contributor.  She’s a frequent speaker at Ruby conferences, including RubyConf and RubyConf Australia, and she loves encouraging other people to get into programming. Twelve of the 26 Boulder students (46%) are women, and Kinsey is the perfect person to connect and support these students in their learning.

And if it couldn’t get any better….we’re excited to announce that Jeff Taggart will be joining the Galvanize team this Spring and co-teaching the next Denver Full Stack Developer (Ruby) program.

Jeff’s a senior developer and with a wide range of experience (from  journal blogs to high throughput, real time bidding platforms) and comes to us from Pivotal Lab’s London office.  Jeff loves teaching and mentoring new developers, and he is excited to share his passion with Galvanize.
