Learn to Code Phoenix: Introduction to Styling the Web Using Materialize

Prerequisite Knowledge:
– None (HTML/CSS helps but not required)

You will learn: 
– what material design is and how to think about styling web pages this way
– foundational styling with grid systems, color schemes, and shadows
– working with several included components in Materialize such as badges, buttons, chips, and icons to name a few

5:30 pm – 6:15 pm – Doors open & food/drinks
6:15 pm – 7:30 pm – Workshop
7:30 pm – 8:00 pm – Q&A and mingle


How to Prepare (before class): 
– Bring your laptop. Make sure to also grab your laptop charger just in case your battery dies…
– Check out some cool examples of material design
Meet Your Instructors: 
Chris Huie is a Developer Evangelist for the Phoenix Galvanize. When he is not walking his 70lb English Bulldog, Rio, he is out in the community promoting StartUp culture and talking technology. Chris is a pretty new member to the Galvanize learning community but is energetically excited about connecting people to the local tech community.
