What’s Happening at Galvanize During Denver Startup Week!


It’s that time of year again! We’re gearing up for another week of incredible programming, panels, and parties thanks to the Denver Startup Week Organizing Committee and all of the entrepreneurial individuals that make Denver GO! There will be over 175 official events at different venues around the city from Monday September 15th thru Friday September 19th – here is your guide to the events taking place at Galvanize throughout the week:

Monday – September 15th

8:30-10:30am   //   KIND Bar Breakfast hosted at Galvanize – fuel up for the day with a delicious breakfast from our friends at KIND Snacks…and enter for the chance to win sold out Great American Beer Festival Tickets (hint: you will have to complete a KIND deed!).

2:00-3:00pm   //   Let Conscience Be Your Guide: Moral Design by RJ Owen of Universal Mind – This talk will be equal parts philosophy and design; while it will be moral, it will contain no moralizing.

4:00-5:30pm   //   Burning The Candle At Both Ends Without Getting Burned by Matthew LeBauer of LeBauer Counseling – Learn how you can protect against stress & fatigue to achieve fulfillment in your entrepreneurial lifestyle.

Tuesday – September 16th

9:00-10:30am   //   Tales From The Darkside: Android Development For iOS Developers by GoSpotCheck – Android has come a long way very quickly. Understanding it’s user interaction paradigms and coding practices will make us better iOS users and developers.

11:00-12:30pm   //   5 Killer Ways To Create A Kick-Ass Pitch Deck – You don’t have to be a PowerPoint or Prezi genius to impact your audience. Come and learn the five best ways to kick-ass and get funded!

1:00-2:30pm   //   Founders Taking Failure by Brian Parks of Galvanize – What were their key learnings? How did they move forward? How have they applied their learnings? What are they up to now?

6:00-8:30pm   //   Women Who Startup – Fueling Innovation: The best thinking on diversity and fostering the shift of women in roles of leadership and starting up by local leaders, men and women.

Wednesday – September 17th

10:30-11:30am   //   Six Unexpected Things Physical Product Development Taught MeAbout User Experience Design by Anthony Franco of Effective UI & Comsero | mcsquares – Explore the relationship between the product designer and the product engineer and see how having significant responsibility in design allows for a better understanding of how things are built.

1:00-2:30pm   //   Developers: When And How To Push Back (And Why Your Company Needs You Too) by GoSpotCheck – This is for any developer who gets caught up in the day-to-day and needs a reminder to take a step back.

6:00-9:00pm   //   Galvanize + Zayo Official Startup Crawl After Party @ The Monkey Barrel – Finish the Startup Crawl at the Monkey Barrel and meet LoDo’s newest neighbors: Galvanize and Zayo while checking out Galvanize’s new space at 1644 Platte Street.

Thursday – September 18th

5:00-6:00pm   //   CoFounders Lab – Helping entrepreneurs find co-founders, advisers & interns and to build strong, core startup teams.

6:00-8:00pm   //   Denver Startup Week Job Fair – The Denver Startup Week Job Fair aims to connect talented job seekers with the best Denver-based startups and growth-mode companies.

7:00-9:00pm   //   New Tech Denver (BDNT) – A very special edition of Denver New Tech celebrating everything entrepreneurial in Denver!

Friday – September 19th

8:00-9:00am    //   How to Support Your Customers Painlessly (for you and for them) by Joanne Webb of The Tracker Team at Pivotal Labs – We’ll run through straightforward, scalable ways to look after and learn from your customers, without it becoming a black hole of effort.

8:00-11:00am   //   App Strategy Workshop: Drive Downloads, Boost Retention & Make Money With Apps by The App Developers Alliance – Building a great app is difficult, but turning it into a profitable business can be even more of a challenge. Learn from and network with senior execs from TechStars, Under Armour, DearLocal, Digital First Media, Craftsy and more.

12:00-4:00pm   //   IBM StartupCamp – The culmination of IBM’s first time joining the Denver Startup Week excitement! Be sure to stop by the DSW Chase Basecamp located at 16th and Arapahoe downtown to meet the IBM Team throughout the week. Their team will select different startups to pitch at Galvanize on Friday and the winner will move on to the next stage (round of interviews) for the Regional Competition in SF in November!

6:00-10:00pm   //   Denver Startup Week Closing Party & Final Bash! – We’re shutting down the street again, bringing in MORE delicious food and Denver Beer (since we went through it so quickly last year!) as well as some good ol’ fashioned games. Over 600 people attended this last year – join the fun this year!

6:00-10:00pm   //   The Internet of Things Hardware Showcase – This event will showcase a number of Colorado-based IoT technology companies and their cutting edge products.

6:00-10:00pm   //   3D Scan & Print Party by Live Architecture – This soirée shares the latest (& local) scan/print/design technologies to place participants in real-time data-visualization and physical prototyping environments.
